Biomaterials

 

We develop methods for encapsulation of cells and design of micro tissues using self-folding polymer films. In our approach we use polymer bilayers consisting of polymers with different swelling properties. The cells are adsorbed on polymer bilayer, which rolls and forms the tube with cells inside. The tubes can be aligned and assembled together to form scaffolds for tissue engineering.
